Birthday celebrations

A group of some forty friends and relatives gathered at the Restormel Lodge for a celebration lunch to mark the eightieth birthday of the well-known Lerryn 'character' Tom Meyer.
Tom was born in Bristol of Danish parents; his great grandfather having served as a minister in the Danish Parliament. Tom's wife, Gunhild, is also Danish, and the Autumn of this year will see their golden wedding anniversery.
Tom's career in the Civil Service saw him rise the heights of the first division, where he served his country in the then Department of Post and Telecommunications.
This enabled him to make much.use of his linguistic skills, and together with the fact that he had qualified as a lawyer and been called to the Bar, meant he was invaluable when travelling abroad on Government business.
He is an active member of the local community, amongst another things, serving on the local RNLI (Royal National Lifeboat Institution) committee.
